Suresh Raina: From the cheerleaders as he enters the frame to the low-angle camera angles, Suresh Raina is receiving the mass treatment on the big screen. In a Tamil movie, the former cricket player will make his acting debut. The cricket player, who is very well-liked in Tamil Nadu because of his time playing for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, will appear in a movie produced by Dream Knight Stories (DKS).
Suresh Raina’s film debut:
DKS shared a video on their Instagram account to announce the arrival of Suresh Raina, fondly known as “Chinna Thala” by Chennai Super Kings fans. In the clip, Raina walks into a cricket stadium as a massive crowd cheers him on. Meanwhile, the announcement trailer hints that the film will revolve around cricket. Notably, Logan directs the yet-to-be-titled movie under the DKS banner, while D Saravana Kumar produces it.
Along with the video, the makers wrote, “Welcoming Chinna Thala @sureshraina3 on board for #DKSProductionNo1!” Over the years, Raina has earned immense love from Chennai fans after representing CSK for 15 IPL seasons. During his time with the team, he served as the vice-captain under MS Dhoni’s leadership and helped Chennai Super Kings lift the IPL trophy four times.

Suresh Raina’s Cricket Career:
Fans and experts regard Suresh Raina as one of India’s top middle-order batters in white-ball cricket. He became the first Indian to score a century in all three formats of the game. For over a decade, he anchored India’s middle order in ODIs and T20Is, although he couldn’t cement his place in Test cricket.
Raina scored 7,988 runs in 322 international matches across formats, smashing seven centuries and 48 fifties. He played a key role in India’s victories at the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. In the IPL, Raina scored 5,528 runs over 15 seasons for Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Lions, including one century and 39 half-centuries. His consistency throughout the tournament earned him the nickname “Mr. IPL.”
