Hyderabad Zoo Park: The Central Zoo Authority of India (CZAI) has lifted the ban on night safaris in zoos, paving the way for Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad to launch its night safari. According to media reports, officials are still in the early stages of planning. They expect to open the safari within a year and operate it from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m., showcasing a variety of nocturnal species.
Hyderabad Zoo:
Authorities relocated the former zoo enclosures from the Public Gardens and opened Nehru Zoo Park on October 6, 1963. They started constructing the zoo near Mir Alam Tank in Bahadurpura on October 26, 1959, and completed it in four years.
The historic Mir Alam Tank Bund, which builders constructed 200 years ago using 24 arches, stands beside the zoo and enhances its natural setting. Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad houses 2,240 animals. Zoo staff care for 664 mammals from 55 species, 1,227 birds from 97 species, 341 reptiles from 38 species, and 8 amphibians from 2 species. The zoo’s environment attracts numerous native and migratory birds throughout the year.
