Telegana School Holiday: Good news for students and employees in Telangana! This weekend brings two to three days of holidays for many, thanks to the Bonalu festival celebrations in Hyderabad. Bonalu is a major festival celebrated with great devotion in the month of Ashadam, and the Telangana government has announced official holidays on Sunday and Monday (July 20 and 21, 2025).

Why the Telegana School Holiday?

Bonalu celebrations in Hyderabad are very grand and attract large crowds. Temples are decorated beautifully, and people offer Bonam to Goddess Mahakali. Women and young girls carry decorated pots (Bonam), and families come together to celebrate with special food like mutton and chicken feasts. The government recognizes the importance of this traditional festival and has declared Monday as a holiday along with the usual Sunday.

Who Gets Three Days Off?

For some students and employees, the holiday fun starts a day earlier. Those who usually have Saturdays off  like IT workers, corporate employees, and some private schools  will get a three-day break from Saturday to Monday (July 19–21). That means more time for celebrations or even a short family trip!

A Great Time for Travel Too

For those who may not take part in Bonalu festivities, this long weekend is a perfect chance to plan a relaxing trip. There are many tourist spots near Hyderabad that can be visited within a day or two. It’s a great opportunity for a family outing or time with friends.

Note for Andhra Pradesh:

This special holiday is only for Telangana. People in Andhra Pradesh will not have a holiday on Monday, as Bonalu is mainly celebrated in Telangana.
