King Charles Meets Indian Cricket Team:

On July 15, 2025, King Charles III welcomed India’s men’s and women’s cricket teams to St. James’s Palace in London. This meeting came a day after India lost a thrilling five-day Test match against England by 22 runs at Lord’s Cricket Ground.

During the match, India came close to pulling off an upset victory. However, a critical moment occurred when England’s Shoaib Bashir dismissed India’s Mohammed Siraj. The ball rolled back onto the stumps, ending India’s hopes. King Charles called this dismissal “unfortunate” during his conversation with the team.

Indian men’s team captain Shubman Gill described the meeting as a special moment. He said King Charles was “very kind and generous” for inviting them. Gill shared that they discussed the match, with the King noting the unlucky way Siraj got out. “We told him it was an unfortunate match for us, but it could have gone either way. We hope for better luck in the next games,” Gill told ANI news agency.

King Charles also met the coaches and officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). They posed for photos together, and the interaction was warm and friendly. India’s women’s team captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, said it was her first time meeting the King despite several trips to England. “He was very friendly and asked about our travel. It was a great experience,” she shared.

Meanwhile, in other news, the Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad (ABAP) addressed concerns about violence during the ongoing Kanwar Yatra in India. The pilgrimage, which involves carrying holy Ganga water, has seen incidents of unrest. ABAP president Mahant Ravindra Puri urged devotees to focus on the yatra’s spiritual purpose, emphasizing compassion over aggression. He reminded Kanwariyas of the pilgrimage’s roots in devotion, dating back to Lord Parshuram and Shravan Kumar’s acts of service.
