Banks in Shillong will be closed today, July 17, 2025, to mark the death anniversary of U Tirot Singh, a prominent chief of the Khasi tribe. This occasion is observed annually in Meghalaya as a day to honor his legacy.

Both public and private banks, including the State Bank of India (SBI), will remain closed today. This includes various banking services in the region, such as withdrawals and other transactions. Notably, Shillong will also observe the Ker Puja holiday this Saturday, alongside the usual weekend offs on the second and fourth Saturdays, as well as Sundays.
