It was really the month of July 2025 when the heavy monsoon activity took place in Hyderabad that witnessed rains for several days. Rains during the monsoon season are expected in this time period of the year; however, the intensity and volume of rainfall overwhelmed several localities within this city. This report is aimed to highlight areas that saw the worse flooding and impact, thereby helping residents understand areas where the seasonal rains demand extra caution. Most Affected Areas with Heavy Rains in Hyderabad In July 2025.
1. Old City – Charminar And Surroundings
The historical heart of Hyderabad has suffered severely in water logging with narrow alleys filling so quickly with water. Low-lying markets near Charminar had water stasis, affecting foot and vehicular traffic. Businesses had to shut down, and residents relied on sandbags and pumps to keep homes dry.
2. Amberpet-Dabeerpura Connectors
These are the adjoining localities that faced a maximum overflow of storm drains and inundated roads during peak rainfall periods. Local buses and autos had to adopt detours, and hours of inconvenience remained unchanging on the streets after the storms passed.
3. Chilkalguda-Seethaphalmandi
Approaching railway underpasses, big inundation was reported in Chilkalguda and Seethaphalmandi due to inadequate drainage. Some of the key transit roads were closed, and emergency services waded through waterlogged sectors to reach stranded vehicles.
4. Uppal and Malkajgiri
These areas had been badly disturbed by the heavy rains which soon collected in open areas and caused inundation in housing colonies and back lanes exposed residents to intermittent power outages due to submerged transformers.
5. Gachibowli-Sarlingampally
Though this is an upcoming tech hub, office parking spaces and roads in this area experience stagnation of water. Also contributing to poor drainage were the undeveloped buffers surrounding new residential buildings.
HHMDA and GHMC have advised against travel by citizens via flooded roads, particularly under the cover of darkness, while dispatching emergency response teams to hotspot areas and disseminating community alerts through WhatsApp and other local social networks.

Avoid by-ways and underpasses that are susceptible to waterlogging.
Keep things handy for emergencies-umbrellas, raincoats, and water-resistant boots.
Though the region is blessed by monsoons, July downpours reveal Hyderabad’s vulnerability in certain pockets; hence, the gaps cannot be filled with an improved drainage infrastructure and timely warnings supplemented with community awareness.
