School Holidays in Telangana: Schools to Remain Closed on Wednesday

School Holidays in Telangana:

In recent days, Telangana has been witnessing a series of school holidays. Following the announcement of government holidays, schools and colleges in the state were closed last week due to heavy rains. As a result, schools will remain closed again on Wednesday.

School Holidays in Telangana:

Last week, students in Telangana enjoyed multiple consecutive holidays. The break started on Saturday and continued until Monday. Due to the heavy rains, the government declared holidays for schools, including those in Hyderabad and other regions. After Sunday’s break, Monday also became a holiday due to the Bonalu festival. This means that students had a long holiday lasting for three days.
Now, students in Telangana will have another day off on Wednesday, July 23. The reason for the holiday is linked to a statewide strike called by left-wing student organizations. These groups are demanding improvements in the state’s educational system, particularly concerning the lack of infrastructure and teaching staff in government schools. They have also called for stricter regulation on the fees charged by private educational institutions.
The All India Youth Federation (AIYF) has extended its full support for this strike. Their primary demand is the creation of a law to regulate the fees charged by private schools and colleges. They have also called for the immediate filling of vacant teaching posts and key administrative roles like DEOs and MEOs.
Another major demand is the release of pending student welfare payments and teaching fees worth ₹8,000 crores. The student groups are also pushing for free bus passes for students, along with a reduction in the financial burden caused by private educational institutions.
The strike is expected to see participation from students, parents, and educators across Telangana. These demands reflect the growing concerns about the quality and accessibility of education in the state.
As Telangana continues to face heavy rains, students can look forward to more holidays, but the protests are a reminder of the pressing challenges within the state’s educational system.
