Health Benefits Of Drinking Copper-Infused Water Each Morning

Health Benefits Of Drinking Copper-Infused Water Each Morning

For many centuries, traditional Indian households have utilized copper as a way to purify water. This is part of Ayurveda, which considers copper to be a healer. In Ayurveda, copper is not just a metal, but a purifier with the ability to regulate metabolism and support internal cleansing. Just one small ritual, such as drinking copper infused water (known as “Tamra Jal”), can have several health benefits.

Ayurvedic experts opine that during morning ritual of drinking Tamra Jal in Ayurveda is called, “ushapan”, and is said to be good for cleansing the body out and help prepare your digestive system for the day. Traditionally, Tamra jal is kept in a copper vessel overnight, and consumed first thing in the morning. The practice can be linked to better digestion, better immune system, and better skin.

Health Benefits of Tamra Jal:
Detoxification and Gut Cleansing:
Copper infused water can help activate digestive enzymes. It helps liver and kidney functions and makes regular bowel movements possible. It helps to flush out toxins to even out the gut before the day starts. In this way, it can improve energy and digestion.

Heart Health:
Tamra jal positively effects cholesterol levels. It can raise HDL (good cholesterol) and lower LDL (bad cholesterol). Thus, by reducing blockages and controlling blood pressure, you could be able to reduce the risk of heart disease. Before long, a simple copper glass could become part of your heart-healthy routine.

Antibacterial Properties :
Copper has proven natural antibacterial properties. Studies show copper can kill harmful bacteria like E. coli, and Salmonella. Storing water in copper vessels for at least 8 to 10 hours makes the water naturally purified, a wonderful quality to possess in a place where water can sometimes be dirty.

Helps With Diabetes :
Copper doesn’t regulate blood sugar levels, but without copper, it can increase symptoms like fatigue, poor healing, and inflamed. According to Dr. Roshani Gadge, Tamra Jal can improve the body’s health and process functions at the level of cell and metabolism. However, please check with your doctor before proceeding with any part of your routine.

Better Skin and Hair:
Copper enhances melanin and collagen production. A stimulating factor of two essential components of healthy skin and hair. The antioxidant attributes of copper water mitigate the aging of skin, boosting elasticity, and delaying gray hair. This type of water would be a perfect addition to your beauty regimen.

How to Use Tamra Jal Safely:

Proper usage of Pure Copper Vessels:
Only use food-grade copper bottles or tumblers for your tamra jal. Do not use brass mixtures, or lacquer-coated vessels for water storage, as it may not be safe.

Cleaning Your Pure Copper Vessels:
Copper will eventually become a green colour; that is natural. Dr. Bhat suggests cleaning it once a week with lemon and salt. You may use lemon to clean, but don’t drink from the copper simply after using lemon.

Things to Avoid when using Copper:
Do not put anything acidic i.e. lemon, vinegar, tamarind into the copper / tamra vessel. Acidic substances will cause a reaction with the copper creating copper leaching. Copper leaching can cause digestive problems and weaken your immune system.

Proper use in Moderation:
Taking too much tamra jala can bring nausea or an uncomfortable feeling. Limit your intake to 2 – 3 glasses a day. It’s always good to consult with a health expert before introducing this whole new practice into your life.

Now, store fresh water every day
Fill clean water in your copper vessel every night. Put a lid on the vessel and drink the water the following morning. After that, don’t let the water sit in the vessel for more than 24 hours, as it will lose its freshness and benefits!

Please Note:
While Tamra Jal may help support general wellness, it should not take the place of prescribed medications. People that have a chronic condition such as liver or kidney disease should seek consultation with a doctor before starting this practice.
