Telangana School Holidays List for August 2025

Telangana School Holidays List:

As the month of July comes to an end, students and employees in Telangana have something to look forward to. The month of August is bringing a series of holidays that will surely bring a smile to everyone’s face. With festivals, weekends, and special days all lined up, the holiday list for August looks exciting for students and workers alike. Let’s take a look at the major holidays that are coming up in the next month.

Telangana School Holidays List:

1. Varalakshmi Vratam – August 8

Varalakshmi Vratam, an important festival for married women, is celebrated in the month of Shravan. It falls on the 8th of August (Friday) this year. Women observe this day by performing special prayers and rituals to seek blessings from Goddess Lakshmi for the well-being of their families. This festival is especially significant in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Both states have declared this day as an optional holiday for government employees. For women working in government offices, they can avail a paid holiday on this day. Some educational institutions might also observe this day with special pujas.

2. Raksha Bandhan – August 9

Raksha Bandhan, the festival of love between brothers and sisters, falls on August 9. On this day, sisters tie a rakhi on their brothers’ wrists, symbolizing their bond. Interestingly, August 9 is also the second Saturday of the month, making it an official holiday for most workers. Therefore, students and employees will get a double holiday – one for Raksha Bandhan and the other for the weekend. This will be a perfect time for families to celebrate the occasion.

3. Long Weekend – August 8 to 10

With Varalakshmi Vratam falling on Friday, August 8, followed by Raksha Bandhan on Saturday, and the regular Sunday holiday on August 10, students and employees are in for a three-day long weekend. This extended break will allow everyone to relax and enjoy the festivities or plan a short trip with family and friends.

4. Independence Day and Krishna Janmashtami – August 15 & 16

India’s Independence Day, celebrated on August 15, is a national holiday. This year, it falls on a Friday, making it the perfect start to the long weekend. Following this, on August 16, Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated to mark the birth of Lord Krishna. This is a significant festival for Hindus, especially in the Telugu states. Both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have declared August 16 as a public holiday, meaning students and employees will enjoy a long three-day break – from August 15 to August 17.

5. Fourth Saturday – August 23

On August 23, the fourth Saturday of the month, bank employees will get a holiday, as it is a regular holiday for banking institutions. This holiday may not apply to everyone, but it will certainly be a day off for those working in the banking sector.

6. Vinayaka Chavithi – August 27

Vinayaka Chavithi, the celebration of Lord Ganesha’s birth, falls on August 27 this year. It is a major festival in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, where people bring home Ganesha idols, offer prayers, and perform elaborate rituals. This festival is a public holiday in both states, and students will have the day off to celebrate with their families.

7. Last Sunday – August 31

The final holiday of the month is the regular Sunday holiday, which falls on August 31. This brings the month to a close with yet another weekend off, allowing everyone to relax after a month full of celebrations and breaks.
