On Monday, July 28, 2025, a tragic incident occurred outside the Awsaneshwar Mahadev Temple in Haidergarh, Uttar Pradesh. Two people died and more than 40 were injured in a stampede like situation. The incident happened during early morning darshan when devotees gathered for the third Monday of the Sawan month.

Uttar Pradesh Temple Stampede:

An electric wire fell onto a tin shed at the temple causing electric shocks to many people. According to officials, monkeys damaged the wire, which led to the accident. The electric current spread across the metal structure causing panic among the devotees.


The deceased were identified as 22-year-old Prashant from Mubarakpura village and another person, whose identity is still unknown. Both died at the Trivediganj Community Health Center while receiving treatment. Local eyewitnesses said the incident happened around 3 am. Many devotees were there for the jalabhishek ritual.

District Magistrate Shashank Tripathi confirmed that the electric shock was caused by a damaged wire. He added that 19 people were shocked but the situation was now under control. Police were present at the temple at the time of the incident, and an investigation is underway.

This tragic event has left many shaken. Authorities are taking steps to ensure such incidents do not occur again.
