EPFO Announces Major Change:

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has brought good news for its account holders. From now on, you will no longer need to submit any documents to withdraw money from your EPF account. This change has been in place since 2017, and it allows you to make withdrawals through a simple self-declaration.

EPFO Announces Major Change:

This rule applies to all EPF members. Now, you can withdraw funds without any paperwork. The process is now easier and quicker. Whether it’s for children’s education, marriage, buying a house, health issues, or any emergency, this new rule will be beneficial for many.

According to the Ministry of Labor and Employment, the self-declaration system is already in use. If you need to withdraw your funds, you only need to explain why. There is no need to provide any additional documentation. This system was introduced to make the process transparent, trustworthy, and simple.

The new process is not entirely new. In 2017, EPFO introduced a composite claim form, which eliminated the need for documents in both partial and final withdrawals. Now, members can withdraw money just by submitting their declaration. Previously, many people faced issues with uploading poor-quality bank passbook or cheque images, leading to claims being rejected. This problem has now been resolved. From April 3, 2025, the requirement to upload cheque or passbook images will no longer exist, further reducing issues related to KYC and bank account verification.

The government also shared that more than 1.9 crore EPF members have benefited from this simplified process so far. With this change, people can now withdraw their funds quickly when needed, especially in emergencies. This is a big step in making EPF claims more efficient and user-friendly.
