You may not have a big problem carrying alcohol from a state where alcohol is available to a state where alcohol is not prohibited. However, it is essential to be clear about how much alcohol can be carried. You should know what the regulations are there. Generally, only one or two sealed bottles are allowed to be carried on railways or other means of transport. The maximum limit is 750 millilitres (1 bottle). That too, the liquor bottles must be sealed, and there must be a proof of purchase, otherwise it is considered illegal.

States with alcohol ban: Some states like Bihar , Gujarat , Nagaland, and Mizoram have completely banned alcohol. In these states, even carrying alcohol in a sealed container is considered a crime. If you are caught carrying alcohol in these areas, you can be fined and imprisoned. Many times, travellers try to get away with it by pretending that they have a permit or by showing a receipt. However, the rules in these states are very strict. Be careful.
