India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, has praised his team’s performance after the series against England ended in a 2-2 draw. In his message, Gambhir also addressed the ongoing issue of players picking and choosing matches based on workload management. The head coach has long been against the “mega-star culture” in Indian cricket, where players prioritize certain games over others.
According to a senior BCCI official, the message will be conveyed to centrally contracted players that such behavior will no longer be entertained. The BCCI, Gambhir, and the selection committee are all aligned on putting an end to this practice.
