Terror Attack: The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has taken immediate action after intelligence agencies issued an urgent alert on the security of all airports in the country. It had issued special advisories on August 4 in the wake of information about the possibility of terrorist attacks between September 22 and October 2.
Orders have been issued to continue patrolling 24 hours a day in all airport terminals, parking areas and peripheral zones. It has also been suggested to strengthen security at airstrips, helipads, flying schools and training centres. BCAS has clarified that cityside security measures should be taken in coordination with local police.
He ordered that mail parcels sent through international and domestic routes be thoroughly searched. He advised that strict checks should be made mandatory for all airport staff, contractors, and visitors. Passengers were advised to immediately inform the staff if they see suspicious objects or people.
Orders have been issued to continue continuous surveillance through CCTV cameras at every airport. It has been suggested that the performance of emergency response teams should be reviewed and activated immediately if necessary. It has been stated that all protocols should be reviewed and implemented.
The BCAS has directed airport directors to immediately convene special airline passenger service committee meetings to discuss and take decisions on safety deficiencies, coordination, and emergency measures.
