Train Ticket Booking:

Indian Railways is making significant improvements to its ticket booking system to enhance passenger experience. Starting from November 1, the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) will be upgraded, allowing bookings at a much faster rate. Currently, the system can handle only 25,000 tickets per minute, but with the new upgrade, it will be able to handle up to 1 lakh tickets per minute, improving speed and efficiency.

Train Ticket Booking:

The upgrade will replace outdated servers with modern cloud technology. This change is expected to improve hardware, software, network security, and overall performance, ensuring a smoother booking experience for passengers. Indian Railways has also reduced the advance reservation period (ARP) from 120 days to 60 days, allowing travelers to book tickets for upcoming trips with greater flexibility.

In addition to these upgrades, Indian Railways has launched a new mobile app called ‘Rail One.’ This app will allow passengers to book both reserved and unreserved tickets directly from their smartphones, making it more convenient to plan trips. The app aims to make the booking process faster and easier for passengers.

The Railways has also focused on improving services for general travelers. Currently, about 70% of train coaches are non-AC.In the next five years, the Railways plans to add 17,000 more general and sleeper coaches.This expansion aims to meet the rising demand for travel.These changes are part of a larger modernization effort by the Ministry of Railways.The goal is to streamline operations and serve millions of passengers who travel daily across the country. With the new upgrades, passengers can expect quicker bookings and improved overall travel experiences.
