School Holiday on August 14: On August 13, 2025, the Telangana government declared a holiday for schools in certain districts due to severe weather forecasts. The School Education Department made this decision after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert for extremely heavy rainfall in isolated places in Medak, Sangareddy, and Vikarabad districts.

The announcement confirmed the closure of both government and private schools in these districts on August 14.This was a precautionary measure against expected weather conditions.

The IMD warned of the likelihood of heavy rainfall in these areas.

This move is part of a broader response to the monsoon season’s unpredictable weather. On the same day, the government declared holidays for schools in several other districts.These included Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Yadadri.Officials had issued similar rainfall warnings in these areas.As a result, schools here will also close on August 14.

In contrast, schools in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) areas will continue their operations on a half-day schedule. The schools will function during the morning shift.Students will go home early.

This will reduce the risk of them being caught in heavy rains later in the day.

With the possibility of even heavier rainfall in the coming days, the government and local authorities are on high alert. Emergency response teams and disaster management units have been mobilized to handle any potential issues arising from the weather conditions. The IMD has advised the public to stay updated on weather forecasts and take necessary precautions.
