Travel Guide: Top 5 Hidden South Korean Destinations

Travel Guide: Top 5 Hidden South Korean Destinations. K-dramas have dazed the whole world into beauty with Korean culture. But while all that glitters is K-drama, here are five real gems, seriously kept from being seen as there are parts of South Korea that are rich but not profoundly known.

Top 5 Hidden South Korean Destinations

1. Jeonju Hanok Village
This throws in North Jeolla Province. Jeonju Hanok Village houses over 700 traditional hanoks with a charming historical village. Jeonju is less touristy and quieter than Bukchon, which is in Seoul. Try on hanbok, taste local dishes such as bibimbap, and engage in traditional crafts.

2. Boseong Green Tea Fields
These green tea fields are a delight to behold, with their lush, terraced landscapes. A southern province of South Korea, Jeollanam-do, marks Boseong out for tranquil hiking paths and picturesque terraces. Sipping freshly brewed green tea while admiring endless rows of emerald leaves, it is perfect.

3. Hwaeomsa Temple
Away from the frenetic temples in Seoul is quiet Hwaeomsa at the foot of Jirisan Mountain. Built in the sixth century, this ancient temple has little footfall rounds but boasts deep heritage of Buddhism quite divinely and architecturally. Templestay programs link to restorative retreats for those seeking spiritual reflection.

4. Gwangyang Maehwa Village
Into this, it happens each spring: a village becomes a sea of white and pink plum blossoms. Springtime destination in Korea, quite possibly as famed yet underrated, this place paints beautiful scenery. It reservedly overlooks the riverside with beautiful blooming trees, making it haven for photographers and nature lovers.

5. Ulleungdo Island
This isolated volcanic island rising from the surface of the East Sea is perhaps South Korea’s best-kept hidden paradise. Surrounded by dramatic cliffs and clear blue waters, few tourists ever dare go to Ulleungdo, making it a great destination for hiking, seafood feasting, and star-gazing. You might have to take a ferry, but it will definitely pay off to be seeing the quiet moments and sceneries.
