Karthik Subbaraj and Suriya shares Suriya 44 official poster and teaser

Karthik Subbaraj and Suriya officially announced their upcoming film tentatively titled Suriya 44 on their social media platforms , promises Love, Laughter and War and dropped film’s first poster.

Director Karthik Subbaraj took to his official Twitter account , shared film’s first poster and wrote,” The One’s Xmass Gift #Suriya44 #The One Xmass #Love Laughter War. While Suriya revealed that Suriya 44’s title teaser will be released on December 25, Christmas day. It’s worth noting that the film wrapped shoot in October.

Suriya 44 is the working title of an upcoming Indian Tamil-language romantic action film written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj. It is produced by Stone Bench Films and 2D Entertainment.

The music and background score are composed by Santhosh Narayanan, in his first collaboration with Suriya and eighth with Subbaraj. It is reported that the film’s streaming rights were acquired by Netflix for a record price of Rs 80 crore (US$9.6 million).

Film’s Cast

The film’s ensemble cast includes Suriya, Pooja Hegde in the lead roles and Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran, Nassar, Prakash Raj, Sujith Shankar, Thamizh, Prem Kumar, Ramachandran Durairaj, Sandeep Raj, Murugavel, Remya Suresh, MD Asif in supporting roles.

Suriya Shivakumar was last seen in period drama film Kanguva, which was released on 14 November 2024 in standard, 3D and IMAX format. The film based on the theme of reincarnation garnered mostly negative reviews from critics and fans. who praised Suriya’s performance, and the film’s cinematography, art work, VFX, but criticized the lazy writing, poor screenplay, editing and the sound, calling it loud. It emerged a box-office bomb.

In a recent conversation with a media director Karthik revealed that he aims to release the film in summer 2025 in multiple languages Telugu and Tamil. Suriya 44 marks first collaboration between Suriya and Karthik Subbara and the first teaser will be unveiled on December 25, 2024 marking Christmas.
