With Bathukamma 2025 set to begin on September 24, Telangana is gearing up for a grand celebration. On Wednesday, August 20, Special Chief Secretary for Tourism and Culture, Jayesh Ranjan, chaired a high-level meeting at Haritha Plaza Hotel, Begumpet, to review festival preparations.
Ranjan announced that the government will allocate higher funds this year compared to previous editions. “Bathukamma plays a vital role in Telangana’s cultural identity. We are working to give it national and international recognition,” he said.
Celebrated over nine days, Bathukamma is one of the most important festivals for the women of Telangana. It involves making colorful flower arrangements and praying to Goddess Gauri for prosperity and well-being. The festival symbolizes the strength, spirit, and creativity of women, and it brings communities together across the state.
Officials discussed multiple aspects of the festival, including traditional rituals, wall posters, the role of self-help groups, marketing of local products, and organizing cultural performances across districts. Ranjan emphasized interdepartmental coordination to ensure the celebrations are smooth and impactful throughout Telangana, especially in Hyderabad.
