This marks a significant increase from the previous years: 305 special trains in 2023 and 358 in 2024. These special services aim to manage the growing number of travelers during the festival season.
The majority of the special trains are operated by Central Railway, with 296 trips dedicated to handling passenger rush in Maharashtra and the Konkan belt. Other railways, including Western Railway, Konkan Railway, and South Western Railway, are also contributing by running additional services. The planners designed the Konkan Railway route carefully and included key stations such as Chiplun, Ratnagiri, and Madgaon to accommodate travelers heading to popular pilgrimage destinations.
These special trains started running on August 11, 2025, ahead of the festival, and will continue through the peak season, which spans from August 27 to September 6. Passengers can expect increased frequencies as the festival dates approach, ensuring ample availability of trains for everyone.
For easy access to train schedules, passengers can check the IRCTC website or the RailOne app, where detailed timings and halts are available. The introduction of these special trains is a testament to Indian Railways’ effort to provide a comfortable travel experience for the millions of Ganesh devotees during this festive period.
