Digital Populations 2025: In today’s fast-paced digital age, the internet is a vital source of contemporary information, making the world more connected than ever. According to Statista, as of February, there were 5.56 billion internet users globally, making up 67.9% of the world’s population. 5.24 billion people, or 63.9% of the world’s population, used social media out of all internet users. With 1.11 billion people online, China has the most internet users worldwide, according to Statista.

India in Second Position:
According to the DataReportal Digital 2025 study, India currently has the second-largest online population in the world. Between January 2024 and January 2025, the country’s internet user base grew by 49 million, or 6.5%. According to Statista, India has more than 806 million internet users as of February 2025, which puts it considerably ahead of the US (322 million) and only behind China (1.11 billion). However, India’s internet penetration rate is still below that of the United States and China, at over 55%.
