Ravichandran Ashwin: Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has declared his retirement from the IPL. On the social media site X, Ashwin announced the news and stated that he will now look at playing in leagues all around the world. With 187 wickets from 221 games, Ashwin is fourth in the Indian Premier League in terms of wickets taken. During his 14-year career, he played for a number of teams, including the Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Supergiant, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and the Rajasthan Royals. It was only right, though, that his final season was with CSK, the team with which he made his IPL debut in 2009.
A few weeks earlier, Ashwin informed CSK that he intended to leave the team. The seasoned cricketer helped the management by clearly seeking clarification and stating that he would leave if they did not consider him a fit for their plans in the upcoming season.
In his official post, he wrote, “Special day and hence a special beginning. They say every ending will have a new start. My time as an IPL cricketer comes to a close today, but my time as an explorer of the game around various leagues begins today. I would like to thank all the franchisees for all the wonderful memories and relationships over the years, and most importantly, the IPL and the BCCI for what they have given me until now. Look forward to enjoying and making the most of what’s ahead of me.”

Ashwin ended his international career nine months prior to his IPL retirement. When he attended the post-match press conference alongside former captain Rohit Sharma following India’s draw with Australia in the Gabba Test during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the 38-year-old said he was done.
