Revanth Reddy Inspired Ganesh Idol:
Hyderabad witnessed a unique celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi this year with an idol designed in the style of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Congress leader Mettu Sai Kumar, Chairman of the Telangana Fishermen Co-operative Societies Federation, installed the idol.
The theme for this year is “Telangana Rising”, which aims to highlight the state’s progress and development. The idol shows Lord Ganesh dressed like the Chief Minister, wearing a white shirt, black trousers, and a green shawl, inspired by Revanth Reddy’s look during his padayatra.
Mettu Sai Kumar explained that for many years they created Ganesh idols based on different themes, usually related to movies. This time, they wanted to send a message of unity and growth by adopting the Chief Minister’s vision for Telangana. “Ganesh ji is the remover of obstacles. With his blessings, Telangana will continue to grow. We want people to support the CM’s ideas and work together for the state’s development,” he said.
Along with this unique installation, Hyderabad’s most famous Ganesh idol at Khairatabad also drew massive attention. The Khairatabad Ganesh stands at an impressive 69 feet this year and marks the 71st year of celebrations. The theme chosen for this idol is “Vishwashanti”, meaning world peace, inspired by Operation Sindoor after the Pahalgam attack.
According to Raj Kumar, Chairman of the Ganesh Utsav Committee, this tradition started in 1954 when a one-foot idol was installed by freedom fighter Shankaraiah. Over the years, the size and grandeur have grown, and now it is one of the tallest Ganesh idols in India. The main Pooja for this idol is performed by the Governor along with ministers and other dignitaries.
The ten-day Ganesh festival began on August 27 and will end on Anantha Chaturdashi with the grand immersion ceremony. Thousands of devotees are expected to visit and offer prayers during this period.
