Eid-e-Milad 2025: Will Schools Remain Closed Today?

Eid-e-Milad 2025: Today, September 5, 2025, many schools across India will remain closed to mark Eid-e-Milad, also known as Milad-un-Nabi. The festival is an important occasion for Muslims, as it celebrates the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad. Since it is observed as a gazetted holiday in several states, students are enjoying a long weekend.


Eid-e-Milad 2025:

Schools in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu have declared a holiday today for Eid-e-Milad. Apart from these, schools in Kerala also closed mainly because the Onam festival concluded. Government offices and banks in Kerala also shut today.

However, the declaration of school holidays can differ from one institution to another. Parents and students are advised to confirm directly with their schools for final updates.

21st September (Sunday) – Weekly holiday

22nd September (Monday) – Beginning of Navratri

28th September (Sunday) – Weekly holiday

This means students and families can look forward to several breaks in the month.

Significance of Eid-e-Milad

Eid-e-Milad, also called Mawlid al-Nabi, falls in the third month of the Islamic calendar, Rabi’ al-awwal. It is observed with prayers, community gatherings, and special events that highlight the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. Muslims across the world remember his life and message of peace on this day.

Globally, the celebration started on the evening of September 4 and will conclude this evening, September 5.
