School Holiday Today: Schools Remain Closed in THESE States

School Holiday Today:

Severe weather conditions and local festivals have led to school closures in many parts of India during the first week of September 2025. Heavy rainfall, floods, and landslides forced several state governments to declare holidays to ensure the safety of students. At the same time, some schools that were shut earlier are now preparing to reopen.

School Holiday Today:
Jammu and Kashmir

In Jammu, schools that remained closed because of heavy rain and waterlogging are expected to reopen on September 10, 2025. However, the reopening decision will depend on safety inspections carried out by local authorities. If buildings or routes are still unsafe, certain schools may remain closed.

Punjab

In Punjab, schools in Amritsar were closed on September 8 due to severe flooding. Most of them reopened on September 9, but some flood-affected areas may take more time. District officials have been given the power to extend closures depending on local situations.

Rajasthan

The Rajasthan Meteorological Department has issued warnings of very heavy rainfall in districts such as Udaipur, Jalore, and Dungarpur. As a precaution, holidays were declared on September 8. The status for September 10 will depend on the updated weather conditions. Students and parents are advised to check with their schools for the latest updates.

Uttarakhand

In hilly regions of Uttarakhand, monsoon rains often trigger landslides, causing disruptions in transportation. While there is no statewide closure, districts such as Dehradun, Chamoli, and Nainital may continue to announce local school holidays if weather conditions worsen.

Other States

Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana: Schools have reopened after short breaks due to earlier rains and festivals. Classes are running on a regular schedule.
Maharashtra: Schools resumed after the Ganesh Visarjan holiday on September 6.
Kerala: After the Onam festival holidays, schools are now functioning as usual.
Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana: Schools are open, though local holidays may be declared for upcoming festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and Dussehra.

Key Advice for Parents and Students

Since weather conditions can change quickly, parents should follow updates from district education officers and local administration. School websites and official notices remain the most reliable sources of information.
