Special Vehicle Number Auction:
The Hyderabad Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Central Zone, Khairatabad, recently held an auction for special and fancy vehicle numbers. The auction generated a total of Rs 63,77,361. Both companies and individual buyers participated actively, showing a strong demand for unique and easy-to-remember registration numbers.
The Telangana government had recently revised the fees for fancy and special vehicle numbers. This change was aimed at standardising the auction process and increasing revenue from vehicle registrations. The auction highlighted how valuable distinctive numeric plates have become for buyers.
The most expensive number, TG09G9999, was purchased by Hetero Drugs Limited for an impressive Rs 25,50,200. This shows the premium that businesses are willing to pay for unique registration numbers. Other corporate buyers also secured special numbers, including ARL Tyres Limited, which bought TG09H0009 for Rs 6,50,009, Dr Rajeshwari’s Skin & Hair Care Pvt Ltd, which bought TG09H0001 for Rs 6,25,999, and AMR India Ltd, which acquired TG09H0006 for Rs 5,11,666.
Individual buyers also took part in the auction, paying premium prices for personalised numbers. Venkateswara Rao Srungavarapu bought TG09H0005 for Rs 2,22,000, Pocha Vijaya purchased TG09H0007 for Rs 1,51,999, and Taher Cine Tekniq secured TG09H0099 for Rs 1,30,999. Other individuals like Mir Ashfaq Zaheer, Ujwala Manohar Madas, and Muppala Rajasekhar Raju also purchased memorable numbers, paying between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.22 lakh.
Khairatabad Joint Transport Commissioner (JTC) Ramesh Chidura said that the auction shows the ongoing interest in special registration numbers. Companies and individuals are ready to pay high prices to own exclusive and easily recognizable plates. The event reflects a growing trend in Hyderabad, where both corporate entities and private individuals see special vehicle numbers as a status symbol and investment.
