She has been a long-standing heartthrob of the Indian masses. Her natural beauty, wavy hair, and beaming smile have contributed to a distinct charm to her personality, winning over thousands of hearts throughout the nation.
While commonly referred to as a “nepo kid,” Keerthy has never actually suffered criticism for the roles she has been granted—chiefly due to one rather simple reason: her talent. She is a remarkable performer who has continually demonstrated her talent and versatility. Her performance as the iconic actress Savitri in the Telugu movie Mahanati even led to her winning the National Award for Best Actress.
But her entry into Bollywood did not go so smoothly. In her first Hindi movie Baby John, opposite Varun Dhawan, she was heavily criticized. Her performance, let alone her wardrobe makeover, left audiences disappointed as much as they were disapproving of her overall transformation—particularly of deciding to wear shorter and more revealing clothes.
What added to the backlash was the timing of when the film was released—Keerthy had recently married, and many felt her fashion choices were not befitting a newlywed. Consequently, she was bombarded with rude remarks and internet trolling.
Now, Keerthy has shared a fresh set of photos taken during a shoot with ELLE magazine, wherein she is photographed wearing trendy and contemporary clothing, some of which are rather daring. And the internet has spoken again. Criticism is beginning to flow in.

At this point, it’s only natural to wonder—are these criticisms really constructive, or simply targeted hate?
As an actress, Keerthy has already established herself. It is disappointing to note how a good performer continues to be critiqued—not for her performances, but for what she looks like and how she dresses. One hopes that the Indian audience would get over their fixation of an actress’s appearance and wardrobe, and instead critique her for what really counts: their performances and talent.
