Saiyaraa or Coolie: This year, Tamil cinema released the most anticipated film of the year, ‘COOLIE’, this film was supposed to be their first 1000cr grosser at the box office. But, this Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial disappointed the fans and audience alike, this disappointment reflected in box office numbers, throughout its theatrical run, it made a little more than 500 crores.
This year, Hindi cinema shocked men, including themselves, when two debutant films, “SAIYARAA”, opened to phenomenal numbers and went on to collect 577 crores at the box office. This simple love story made headlines all over the country, and both the actors, Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda, became stars overnight. Now, both these films flocked to OTT platforms, and the internet is going crazy looking at the streaming views of both these films.
Saiyaraa on Netflix:
Streaming Giant Netflix started streaming this intense love story on September 15th, just a day after the Coolie release. And it immediately went into the top charts across the globe. According to Ormax Media, the film acquired 5.5 million views so far. This achievement can be hailed as bigger as the movie is streaming only in its original Hindi language.

Coolie on Amazon Prime:
Rajinikanth, in the audio launch of Coolie said that Kalanthi Maran of Sun Pictures and producer of the film gave Lokesh Kanagaraj free hand to make the film. Lokesh bought big guns(stars) to act in the film; he picked Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Upendra, and Soubin Sahir from across the country. With all these major stars in the film and the feasibility of the languages(Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam), the film garnered around 4.8 million views from the 8th to the 14th of this month.
So, by comparison of the numbers, we can easily say Saiyaara beat Coolie in views. And to be frank, the content won over star value, which says that the audience will watch good content rather than stars.
