Navratri Day 2 Puja:
The second day of Shardiya Navratri 2025 is dedicated to Maa Brahmacharini, the second form of Goddess Durga. The name “Brahmacharini” signifies a devotee who follows the path of penance and discipline. Worshipping her encourages spiritual growth, self-discipline, patience, and inner strength. Devotees believe that Maa Brahmacharini blesses them with wisdom, knowledge, and the ability to make the right decisions in life. Her blessings also bring peace, prosperity, and protection from negative influences.
Maa Brahmacharini is revered as a serene yet powerful form of the Goddess, representing penance, simplicity, and unwavering devotion. She is portrayed with a fair, radiant complexion, dressed in white garments that reflect purity. In her right hand, she holds a rosary (japmala), and in her left, a water pot (kamandal). Walking barefoot, she signifies her path of austerity and dedication to spiritual practice. Her calm expression and minimal adornments emphasize meditation, discipline, and detachment from material pleasures.
The auspicious timings (muhurat) for her worship on this day are as follows: Brahma Muhurat from 4:36 AM to 5:23 AM, Abhijit Muhurat from 11:50 AM to 12:38 PM, and Godhuli Muhurat from 6:17 PM to 6:41 PM. Additionally, Amrit Kaal lasts from 7:06 AM to 8:51 AM, while Dvipushkar Yoga extends from 1:40 PM to 4:51 AM on September 24.
Devotees can offer her kheer, barfi, sugar, Panchamrit, and white flowers, as white is considered her most beloved colour.
The puja begins with a ritual bath and wearing clean attire, preferably in white or yellow. Her idol or image is placed on a sanctified platform, which is sprinkled with holy water. Offerings such as sandalwood, fruits, and flowers are then made, followed by aarti with ghee lamps. Chanting her mantras and reciting the Durga Chalisa are also recommended.
Worshipping Maa Brahmacharini with sincerity is believed to grant spiritual strength, wisdom, patience, and peace of mind. She removes obstacles and blesses devotees with harmony and prosperity, making her puja an integral part of Navratri celebrations.
