Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s assertions regarding Operation Sindoor and the current confrontation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors were demolished on Saturday by Petal Gahlot, India’s first secretary at the country’s permanent mission. In Delivering India’s Right of Reply, Gahlot charged Pakistan with supporting terrorist organizations, spreading lies, and trying to pass loss as victory.
She reminded the UNGA that after its airbases were destroyed during Operation Sindoor, Pakistan’s military had “pleaded” with India for an end to the fighting. “Pakistan is welcome to enjoy it if destroyed runways and burnt-out hangars look like victory, as the Prime Minister claimed,” Gahlot retorted sharply.
The first secretary also brought up Pakistan’s decision to defend “The Resistance Front” (TRF), the organization that killed 26 people in the Pahalgam incident in Jammu and Kashmir, at the UN Security Council earlier this year. Recalling how it provided ten years of sanctuary to Osama bin Laden while pretending to be a partner in the international battle on terror, she charged Islamabad with exporting terrorism.

Gahlot reiterated India’s long-standing stance to the assembly, saying that there must be “no room for any third party” in the resolution of any unresolved issues with Pakistan. She disputed Sharif’s request for talks, insisting that Pakistan first dismantle terrorist camps and turn over terrorists who are wanted.
