Actress Vinodhini: At a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) rally hosted by Vijay in Karur, Tamil Nadu, tragedy struck on Saturday. The event was packed with people, and a rush broke out, resulting in at least 39 fatalities and 95 injuries. Vinodhini Vaidynathan, who costarred with Vijay in Jilla, wrote on X (previously Twitter) that Vijay should never have entered politics because of the rush. What she said is as follows.

Vinodhini recalled her times with Vijay and commented on X (previously Twitter) that she “loved” him as an actor. “Vinodhini Vaidynathan: I adore the actor Vijay sir,” she wrote. He and I collaborated on Jilla. He was sitting in the front row when I exited the stage following my acceptance of the Vikatan award for Aandavan Kattalai. I approached him, gave him the medal, listened to his desires, and then returned to my seat.

Then, pointing out that the guilt of these killings would be too much for him to bear, she added that he received so much affection as an actor that, in her opinion, he never needed to enter politics. When he was just an actor, the people of Tamil Nadu showered him with love. Vinodhini stated, “He was the undeniable leader of the cinema industry. Why, oh, why did he have to enter politics? I really don’t know how you’re going to deal with this guilt, my brother. At his core, he is a very kind person. He now feels personally targeted by the hate he is getting.

Vinodhini added that while she is “certain he’s devastated by the deaths of innocent people,” she has no opinion on his politics. stating, “Since I disagree with the majority of the party’s philosophies, I have no remark on his political career or views. However, I know him to be a gentle, kind-hearted, and mild-mannered person, so I’m sure he is really saddened by the loss of so many innocent lives. Please refrain from making this a political issue. Let us be deeply saddened by the passing of these innocent people. Let’s avoid letting hatred swallow us. Please.
