Balti Movie Box Office: Shane Nigam’s newest release, Balti, has defied expectations by finding an audience despite competing films opening in theatres. The sports drama – which has just completed its first week in cinemas – has crossed the ₹10 crore mark. Family audience members have particularly supported the film, allowing it to build steady word-of-mouth growth.
The film is the first for director Unni Shivalingam, who has already impressed critics and audiences with his story and execution. Balti takes place in a border village of Palakkad along the Kerala–Tamil Nadu border and tells the story of four young men whose lives intersect through friendship, romance, conflict, and the popular traditional sport of kabaddi. Unni’s adeptness at balancing strong emotional elements with action-based sports segments has garnered acclaim.
One of Balti’s most impressive aspects is the kabaddi-based action sequences, which have received praise for their authenticity and exuberance.
