Indian Stock Market Today Update :
The Indian stock market is expected to open on a positive note today, supported by strong global cues and easing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Gift Nifty was trading around the 25,150 mark, showing a premium of nearly 30 points over the Nifty futures’ previous close. This indicates that both Sensex and Nifty 50 could start higher on Thursday.
On Wednesday, markets saw some profit booking after a four-day rally. The Sensex fell 153.09 points to close at 81,773.66, while the Nifty 50 dropped 62.15 points to end at 25,046.15. Experts suggest investors continue with a “buy on dips” strategy, focusing on sectors like automobiles, metals, and public sector undertakings (PSUs) that show steady strength.
Across Asia, markets traded higher following overnight gains in the US. Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 1.32%, and the Topix index added 0.36%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng also hinted at a positive opening. However, South Korean markets remained closed for a holiday.
In the US, Wall Street ended higher, led by strong performances from technology stocks. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq closed at record highs, while the Dow Jones remained almost flat. Major tech firms like Nvidia, AMD, Amazon, and Tesla saw notable gains.
Another key global development is the Israel-Hamas ceasefire. Both sides have agreed to the first phase of a peace plan that includes a pause in fighting and the release of hostages. This truce has eased oil market tensions, leading to a drop in crude prices. Brent crude is now trading around $65.77 a barrel.
Meanwhile, gold prices retreated after touching an all-time high of over $4,000 an ounce. The US dollar remained firm, while the yen weakened slightly.
