Kantara Box-office Collections: The much awaited sequel to the globally successful film, Kantara, is now in theaters and is breaking box office records! Released on October 2, the film is creating huge hype and is taking up cinema screens and earnings all across India. A visual treat for the South Indian audience, with splendour in cinematic experience, the film has been directed and starred by Rishab Shetty. Even more impressively, the prequel has crossed the lifetime collection of the original film in just six days since its release.
According to a leading box-office tracking site Sacnilk, it racked up a whopping ₹415 crores worldwide in six days, surpassing the earlier total of ₹407.82 crores of Kantara. With this record run, the movie is now also counted among the second highest-grossing Kannada films ever made, second only to KGF Chapter 2, which grossed a stupendous ₹1215 crores worldwide.
Kantara Chapter 1 has been thwarting on its success trail not only in Karnataka but also in other lands. So far, the movie has collected ₹28.35 crores in Kerala and ₹31 crores in Tamil Nadu. The overseas performance has also been great, making total international earnings stand at ₹66.50 crores. That gives a domestic total of ₹348.50 crore gross and ₹291 crore net.
The original Kantara had undertaken about ₹44 crores collections from abroad and ₹363.82 crores gross from India with a net of ₹309.64 crores to go side by side.
With just as gripping of a story filled with ancient (and modern) traditions, and stunning visuals that are captivating and unique, Kantara Chapter 1 has re-established Rishab Shetty as an actor and director at the height of his abilities. While the box office is still positively moving on the cheers in his name, fans are buzzing to see if it can dethrone KGF Chapter 2.
