Gold-Producing Nations: The global gold market is always under the spotlight, especially as prices in India hit a record ₹1.22 lakh per 10 grams this week. According to the World Gold Council (WGC), 2025 has seen some notable shifts in global gold production. According to the reports, India doesn’t stand in the top 10 list of gold-producing nations in the world.
1. China: 380.2 Tonnes
China continues to lead the world, producing 380.2 tonnes, accounting for over 10% of global output. Provinces like Shandong, Henan, and Jiangxi remain the backbone of its mining operations, backed by strong local and foreign investment.
2. Russia: 330 Tonnes
Despite political isolation and sanctions, Russia holds the second spot with 330 tonnes, thanks to its reserves in the Far East and Siberia.
3. Australia: 284 Tonnes
Australia comes in third, largely due to the extensive mines in Western Australia and a stable regulatory environment that continues to attract foreign investment.
4. Canada: 202.1 Tonnes
Canada secured fourth place, with most production coming from British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec.
5. United States: 158 Tonnes
The US ranks fifth, with Nevada being its major gold-producing state.

6. Ghana: 140.6 Tonnes
Ghana is Africa’s sixth-largest producer, improving its global standing thanks to government reforms that legalize small-scale mining and encourage foreign investment.
7. Mexico: 140.3 Tonnes
Mexico maintains a strong position, supported by some of the world’s largest mines.
8. Indonesia: 140.1 Tonnes
The Grasberg Mine in Papua, one of the largest globally, helps Indonesia remain a key player in gold production.
9. Peru: 136.9 Tonnes
Despite ongoing political unrest, Peru remains in the top 10 due to its rich mineral reserves.
10. Uzbekistan: 132 Tonnes
Led by state-run Navoi Mining, Uzbekistan rounds out the top 10 gold producers.
