School Holiday 2025:
October 2025 will be one of the most festive months for students in India, bringing a series of school holidays across several states. As the country prepares for Diwali and Chhath Puja, schools in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, and Rajasthan are expected to remain closed for five to six consecutive days.
The main set of holidays will start during Diwali week. In most states, schools will remain closed from October 19 to 23, giving students a continuous five-day break. The schedule usually looks like this:
October 19 (Sunday) – Weekly off
October 20 (Monday) – Naraka Chaturdashi (Chhoti Diwali)
October 21 (Tuesday) – Diwali, a national holiday
October 22 (Wednesday) – Govardhan Puja
October 23 (Thursday) – Bhai Dooj
In some districts like Gurugram, the holidays may even extend from October 17 to 26, depending on the school’s policy. Private schools may follow slightly different schedules, so parents are advised to confirm the official notice.
After Diwali, schools in Bihar, Jharkhand, and parts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh will again remain closed for Chhath Puja, celebrated from October 25 to 28. The main rituals Nahay-Khay, Sandhya Arghya, and Usha Arghya are observed during these days, and most educational institutions remain shut.
Additionally, October 31 will be a holiday in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to mark Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti.
Overall, October 2025 promises to be a joyful month filled with festivities, lights, and relaxation for students and teachers alike. However, since holiday dates may vary across districts, parents should always check the official school calendar before making travel or celebration plans.
