Crackers For Diwali 2025: In a landmark move before Diwali 2025, the Supreme Court of India has sanctioned the sale and use of green crackers all over Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). The bench presided over by the Chief Justice of India B R Gavai, Justice K Vinod Chandran said that green crackers shall be allowed to burst from October 18 to October 21, with strict guidelines in place against pollution.
According to the court, the demand for an approach balancing such festive culture will be backed by environmental responsibilities. And now comes with petitions filed one after another, seeking permission for manufacture and sale of eco-friendly firecrackers for the festive seasons.
To ensure this, the apex court has directed the local authorities and Delhi Police to be deployed with patrolling teams to guard against the sale and purchase of illegal or traditional crackers. Green firecrackers with QR codes, approved by the NEERI and PESO, will be allowed to be used.
Online sales through platforms like Amazon or Flipkart have also been strictly banned with only licensed traders. And manufacturers having the freedom to sell these crackers.
The Supreme Court order declares time allowance for firing crackers between 6 PM to 10 PM on the permitted days. The bench also stated that certain zones would be installed for bursting crackers. Whereby there would be minimum disruption and pollution control. While authorities will randomly conduct inspections to check for violations. Unauthorized production units will risk suspension of licenses as well as seizure of the factory.

Chief Justice BR Gavai remarked that the strategy tries to strike balance between culture and environmental protection. Previous bans of this kind had very little impact; this order. Therefore, emphasizing celebration under rules rather than banning, will make Diwali 2025 merry and green.
