An actor who has returned to show an acting excellence decently along with politics is R. Sarath Kumar. He is a veteran Tamil actor and politician who has been spending time in cinema for over three decades. Now, he is again impressing audiences this time by taking on an unusual avatar as in Pradeep Ranganathan’s latest film, Dude. Having known for doing serious roles in films like Suriyen, Nattamai, and Pazhassi Raja, Sarath Kumar surprises his fans by taking up comedy like never before.
Sarath Kumar portrays Minister Athiyaman Azhagappan in Dude-the Minister for Dairy Development, a character that is anchored in political satire and comedy. Again an advocate of dairy farmers, Athiyaman prides himself highly on his caste and community. His comic mannerisms blended with an exaggerated sense of self-importance gives waves of laughter throughout the first half of the movie, with quite a few viewers already declaring Sarath Kumar as the “show-stealer” of Dude.
Director Keerthiswaran brilliantly makes use of the experience of Sarath Kumar to showcase perfect comic timing combined with emotional intensity. His chemistry with the leading couple; Pradeep Ranganathan as Aghan and Mamitha Baiju as Kural- adds charm to the entire narrative. The film thus mixed all possible ingredients of comedy, emotion, action, love, and friendship to become an entire family entertainer and, possibly, won great responses from the audience in no time.
Dude is a production of Mythri Movie Makers and has pictures brought to life bright by Niketh Bommi’s camera, extremely sharp cuts by Bharath Vikraman, and vivacious music by Sai Abhyankar whose songs have already become favourites with the crowd. Dude is not merely a hilarious film but rather a socially-reflective one that addresses strong messages on love, caste, and relationships.
