Bank Holiday Tomorrow:
The festive season continues across India, and after Diwali and Govardhan Puja, the celebration of Bhai Dooj will take place on Thursday, October 23, 2025. Many people plan to visit banks for financial work after the holiday week, but it’s important to note that banks in some states will remain closed for the festival.
However, banks in other states, including major cities like Delhi and Mumbai, will remain open on October 23. So, if you live in the national capital or the financial hub of India, you can visit your bank as usual to complete your transactions.
The RBI prepares the list of holidays every year under three categories — Holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday under the Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) Holiday, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts. These holidays differ from state to state based on local festivals and traditions.
For those living in the states where banks will remain open, regular services such as cash withdrawal, cheque deposits, and other in-person banking facilities will continue as usual. However, people in states observing Bhai Dooj should plan their financial tasks in advance.
It’s important to remember that online banking, ATMs, mobile apps, and net banking services will function normally across the country, even in states where banks are closed.
With the festive atmosphere still vibrant after Diwali, Bhai Dooj marks a special occasion celebrating the bond between brothers and sisters. As families gather to celebrate this festival, the temporary bank closure in certain states is part of the national observance.
