Tiruchendur Soorasamharam: Traffic Restrictions & Diversions


Tiruchendur Soorasamharam: The Kandashashti festival of Tiruchendur Subramaniaswamy Temple, which began with the Yagasalai Pooja on 22.10.2025, will conclude with the Soorasamhara event on 27.10.2025 and the Thirukalyanam event on 28.10.2025.

The Thoothukudi District Police has imposed restrictions on heavy goods vehicles and light goods vehicles passing through the Tiruchendur area on the two important days of the festival, 26.10.2025 and 27.10.2025, when a large crowd of devotees gathers in view of the Kandashashti festival. Accordingly, on the above two days, except for vehicles carrying essential goods, heavy goods vehicles and light goods vehicles passing through Tiruchendur from Thoothukudi have been completely banned.


Similarly, on the above two days, heavy goods vehicles and light goods vehicles travelling from Tirunelveli to Tiruchendur, from Uvari via the East Coast Road to Tiruchendur, and from Sathankulam via Paramankurichi to Tiruchendur have been completely banned.

Alternative Routes to go Kanyakumari & Nagercoil:

Vehicles going to Kanyakumari via Thoothukudi and Arumuganeri via Tiruchendur via Kulasekaranpattinam and Uvari, and vehicles going to Nagercoil via Udankudi, Vetiyaanvilai, and Sathankulam via Tiruchendur cannot pass through Tiruchendur, so they should proceed via Arumuganeri DCW Junction, Tirunelveli Road Nallur ‘V’ Junction, Rani Maharajapuram, Gandhipuram, Kayamozhi, Paramankurichi, and Udankudi.

Similarly, vehicles going from Kurumpur to Kanyakumari via Kulasekaranpattinam, Uvari, via Tiruchendur, and vehicles going to Nagercoil via Udangudi, Vetiyaanvilai, and Sathankulam, passing Tiruchendur, should proceed via Tirunelveli Road Nallur ‘V’ Junction, Rani Maharajapuram, Gandhipuram, Kayamozhi, and Paramankurichi, if they cannot pass through Tiruchendur.

Vehicles passing through Kanyakumari, Uvari, Kulasekaranpattinam, and going towards Arumuganeri, Thoothukudi, or Kurumpur via Tiruchendur, if they cannot pass through Tiruchendur, they should proceed via Kulasekaranpattinam, Udangudi, Paramankurichi, Kayamozhi, Gandhipuram, Rani Maharajapuram, Tirunelveli Road Nallur ‘V’ Junction. Or Alanthalai N.Muthiyapuram, Senthur Minerals Vaikkal Bridge, Paramankurichi, Kayamozhi, Rani Maharajapuram, Gandhipuram, Tirunelveli Road Nallur ‘V’ Junction to Tirunelveli/ Thoothukudi.

Vehicles travelling via Nagercoil, Vetayaanvilai, Sathankulam to Tiruchendur via Arumuganeri, Thoothukudi, or Kurumpur, if unable to pass through Tiruchendur, should proceed to Tirunelveli/Thoothukudi via Paramankurichi, Kayamozhi, Rani Maharajapuram, Gandhipuram, Tirunelveli Road Nallur ‘V’ Junction. Therefore, on behalf of the District Police, all motorists are requested to provide full cooperation to the Thoothukudi District Police on the occasion of this Kanda Sashti festival.
