School Holiday Today:
Authorities in Andhra Pradesh have issued an important safety decision due to the impact of Montha Cyclone. Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in several districts of the state. To avoid any risk to students and staff, the district administration has declared a holiday for all educational institutions in Palnadu district on Tuesday, October 28.
Palnadu District Collector Kritika Shukla announced that all government and private schools, colleges, and Anganwadi centers will remain closed for one day. This decision has been taken after the weather department warned of extremely heavy rainfall in the district. The cyclone is expected to move closer to the Andhra Pradesh coast and may cross near Kakinada around midnight on October 28. Due to this, several regions will face strong winds, heavy rainfall, and possible flooding.
Similar precautions are already in place in other affected areas. Kakinada district has declared holidays for all schools until Friday. Kadapa, Annamayya, Eluru, East Godavari, Ambedkar Konaseema, and Palnadu districts have also announced a one-day closure for educational institutions on Tuesday. Officials have stated that the holiday schedule may change based on the upcoming weather situation.
The India Meteorological Department has given warnings for multiple districts. Very heavy rains are likely in Srikakulam, Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Alluri Sitarama Raju, East Godavari, and Kakinada districts. Heavy rainfall is also expected in West Godavari, Konaseema, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, and Bapatla districts.
The government has started various precautionary measures to ensure public safety. Special communication facilities like satellite phones have been provided to authorities in the affected districts. Teams from NDRF and SDRF are on standby for emergency rescue operations. Officials from irrigation, civil supplies, medical, and electricity departments have been instructed to stay alert and ready for quick response.
Students and parents are advised to stay indoors, follow official updates, and avoid unnecessary travel during the heavy rain alert. The administration continues to monitor the cyclone’s movement and will issue additional instructions if needed. Public cooperation will help minimize risks and ensure safety during this challenging weather situation.
