Cyclone Montha Alert: Chennai Schools Closed Today

Chennai School Holiday: Cyclone Montha, which has developed over the Bay of Bengal, is expected to be more severe than usual. Even though Tamil Nadu is not going to get the full impact from the cyclone, some of the districts are going to experience heavy rainfall.

Heavy rains have caused safety advisories and temporary closures in a number of northern districts, including Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu. Although Montha’s outer bands have given continuous rainfall to northern Tamil Nadu since Monday, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), located in Chennai, stated that the storm would mostly impact coastal Andhra Pradesh.

The IMD has issued an orange advisory for Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Ranipet, predicting thunderstorms, gusty gusts of up to 60 kmph, and heavy to very heavy rain in certain areas.

School Holiday Today in Chennai:
The Chennai District Collector has announced a one-day break for all public and private schools on Tuesday as a precaution. The district of Tiruvallur has done the same because of the ongoing rains and the waterlogging in a number of low-lying regions.
