Cyclone Montha Unleashes Chaos: Torrential Rains Bring Work to a Standstill

Cyclone Montha: The severe cyclone is causing mayhem across the Telugu states causing disruptions in work flow across all fields. Schools have been shut down and a woman died in Konaseema after gales uprooted a palmyra tree. 


Where it started

Cyclone Montha made landfall on Tuesday, it crossed Andhra Pradesh and Yanam coasts between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam areas to the south of Kakinada. 


But, IMD stated that this severe cyclonic storm has now weakened into a cyclonic storm. The wind speed of this Cyclone is around 90-100kmph and it has increased to a maximum speed of 110kmph. This cyclone is likely to bring extreme rainfall in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha and Telangana. 

The effect of this cyclone will not be limited to these states, according to IMD rainfall alerts have been issued for Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

Where is Cyclone Montha 

Cyclone Montha crossed the coast off Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, causing disruptions in the Southern state, the impact was also felt in neighbouring Odisha, this affected the normal life in more than 15 districts. 

Work flow disruptions

Normally, heavy rains cause major work flow disruptions in Cities, Schools will be closed and travelling will become a major issue, several parts of the city will be affected by traffic halts causing delay in delivery of goods. This can cause major disruptions in daily life of regular citizens. several transportation facilities like bus transportation and trains have been halted.
