Pradeep Ranganathan- Dhanush Controversy: Director and actor Pradeep Ranganathan sparked controversy after one of his old tweets targeting actor Dhanush made its way back to the online conversation. The tweet, that is circulating online for not the right reasons, has generated mixed reactions from social media users.
Netizens claimed the now deleted tweet seems to mock Dhanush’s looks and the movie Maari. The alleged post read: “Maari is not mass, it’s pee,” followed by a line mocking the actor’s dialogue delivery: “Senjuduvaen senjuduvaen nu soldranae, thavara box office la onnum seiyamatikiranae” – which roughly translates to “He says he’ll destroy everything, but does nothing at the box office.”
What angered fans most, however, were claims that Pradeep had referred to Dhanush using words like “dummy” and “elumba” (meaning skinny). A great number of netizens accused him of body-shaming the Maari actor which led to heavy backlash on social media.
What is interesting is that this is shocking for many people because Pradeep has continuously talked in the past couple of years about his respect and admiration for Dhanush. When Dragon, which is Pradeep’s recent film, released, he even posted on social media about Dhanush’s work, calling him his inspiration.
Social media users are split on the tweets- some believe they are real, while others insist they could have been faked or false posts by someone trying to damage Pradeep’s reputation. A few users mentioned that the director has deleted a lot of his old tweets in the past and this could be among those.
The commenter said, “The audacity to body-shame when he looks like that,” while others brushed it aside as unneeded hate bait.
At this time there is no official confirmation if the tweets were really sent by Pradeep Ranganathan’s verified account. Many believe these are probably edited and or fake screenshots, shared by online trolls.
