Tamil Nadu Weather Alert: Rain Likely Till November 11

Tamil Nadu Weather Alert: The chennai meteorological centre has announced that there might be thunderstorms and moderate rainfall in some regions of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

The northeast monsoon has officially arrived, but because of light easterly winds and the residual influence of westerlies, its full impact has not yet been realized, according to the RMC bulletin.

Malai in Ranipet district, Sethupattu in Tiruvannamalai district, and Valathi in Villupuram district all received 3 cm of rain over the 24-hour period that ended Monday morning.

Over the course of the next day, a low-pressure system that is now centered over the east-central Bay of Bengal and the neighboring Myanmar coast is predicted to travel closer to the coasts of Bangladesh and Myanmar.

The RMC added that light rain is predicted to persist until November 11 and that there is a chance of moderate thunderstorms with lightning across isolated regions of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Heavy Rainfall Till November 11 or 12th:
According to the projection, maximum temperatures in certain districts may increase by as much as 4°C above average. The sky is predicted to stay partly cloudy over Chennai and its suburbs, with light to moderate showers and thunder predicted in a few spots later in the day. Due to the Bay of Bengal’s limited moisture influx, high daytime temperatures are predicted to persist.

Meteorologists noted that westerly winds continue to dominate and the easterly flow has not yet strengthened, causing scattered and delayed rainfall in many regions even though the northeast monsoon has officially begun.

Experts predict that the pattern of convective rainfall in the evenings and nights will continue until around November 12 due to the prevalent hot days. Following that, it is anticipated that the easterlies would get stronger, bolstering the northeast monsoon throughout Tamil Nadu.

Schools & Colleges Holiday Update:
Till now government has not given any update about holidays for schools and colleges in the state. But, it is expected that if there is heavy rainfall in next few days there is a high possibility of having holiday.
