Stock Market Closed Today: Due to Guru Nanak Jayanti, a gazetted national holiday honoring the birth anniversary of Sikhism’s founder, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Indian financial exchanges are closed today, Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) have released official holiday calendars stating that trading would be suspended for the whole day in all market sectors. This covers currency derivatives, securities lending and borrowing, stocks, derivatives, and electronic gold receipts.
Both exchanges are closed due to the nation’s celebration of Prakash Gurpurab, the festival commemorating the birth of the first Sikh Guru. This is the sole stock market holiday in November and the second-to-last trading holiday of 2025; the year’s last holiday is Christmas Day, December 25.
