Chinmayi Sripada: Chinmayi Sripada, who is a south Indian playback singer, has taken a hard stance against an internet troll who brought up her previous claims of sexual harassment against lyricist Vairamuthu.
The conversation started when a comment from Rahul Ravindran, Chinmayi’s husband and director, reappeared online. He stated that Chinmayi had the freedom to choose whether or not to wear a mangalsutra throughout their marriage. (Married Hindu ladies wear a sacred thread called Mangalsutra.)
Chinmayi reportedly responded to the backlash by saying that the interview quote was being misused online and that she was “worried for the women” after witnessing the extent of her husband’s online harassment.
After that, a user on X made a vulgar comment regarding Chinmayi’s alleged past sexual harassment, suggesting that she should be more worried about her personal safety.
“Yes, because getting groped and molested is my fault,” Chinmayi retorted sharply. Why do men like you need to bring up my molester and sexual harassment incident to make some point? Please just disappear into thin air in Delhi so I won’t have to breathe it.

“I am asking a simple question: why did you bring up my sexual abuse in your stupid argument?” Chinmayi asked after the troll accused her of hypocrisy as the conversation intensified.
She was swiftly defended by many users. The singer was told by one user to “ignore every man who trolls you,” while another noted that “getting groped and molested is never your fault” and urged others to show compassion to survivors. A well-known voice in India’s #MeToo movement, Chinmayi has continuously denounced online abuse and the demonization of survivors.
