Jatadhara Early Box Office Report: Sudheer Babu and Sonakshi Sinha’s latest, Jatadhara, saw a slow start at the box office, opening to a lackluster house collection for the action drama on Day 1.
Jatadhara, pitched as an intense action thriller weaving elements of mythology and the modern world, was released yesterday in theatres in several languages. Despite decent pre-release buzz and the additional attraction of Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha marking her Telugu film debut, the film failed to create any charm on Day 1.
Regarding the occupancy rates, pertaining to the slow start of the film: Jatadhara debuted with an occupancy of :
Morning:16.69%
Afternoon:17.23%
Evening:15.31%
Night: 0% (either many screenings were canceled or had little footfall)
Figures represent the apathy that people showed toward this movie, even in such prominent cities like Hyderabad and Vizag.
With a disheartening opening and less-than-average word-of-mouth, Jatadhara seems to be on the verge of becoming Sonakshi Sinha’s lowest-ever Telugu debut till date. Though her performance has been mildly appreciated, a really bad screenplay, lethargic pacing, and very scant promotional activities have contributed to a dim opening.

Unless Jatadhara manages to pick up momentum during the weekend aided by families or walks in with buoyant recommendations, it might be gunning for one of the worst openings in the careers of Sudheer Babu and Sonakshi Sinha. For now, it is a pretty sad debut for the Bollywood diva in Tollywood.
