Naga Chaitanya and Akhil:
Nagarjuna’s legendary movie Shiva is considered one of the most powerful films in Indian cinema. Directed by Ram Gopal Varma (RGV), the film completely changed the face of Telugu cinema when it released and still remains a cult classic today. The makers are now preparing to re-release the movie on November 14th, giving fans another chance to relive the magic.
During a recent event, RGV shared some interesting behind-the-scenes moments. He said that creating the film’s music was quite a challenge. “With Dolby Atmos, we can now experience every sound in full detail. Shiva has always been dedicated to Nagarjuna. I even had doubts about how I could convince him to do the cycle stunt,” he recalled.
Speaking about the film’s origin, RGV added, “I have always been a huge fan of Bruce Lee. I was planning to make a small film called Rathri when Venkat suggested writing a story for Nagarjuna. After watching Return of the Dragon for the 50th time, I replaced the restaurant setting with a college for Shiva. The one-line story came to me in just 20 minutes.”
When asked about collaborating with Nagarjuna again, the director said, “I will approach him only after I deliver a hit film.”
Nagarjuna, who attended the event, expressed heartfelt gratitude towards RGV. “When I watched Shiva again recently, it felt like a brand-new film. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Two days after my father watched it, he took me for a drive and told me the film was a huge hit,” he said emotionally.
When asked if his sons Naga Chaitanya or Akhil would ever remake Shiva, Nagarjuna smiled and replied, “Chaitanya and Akhil don’t have the guts to remake Shiva.” He also added, “I wish to work with Amala again in the future.”
The re-release of Shiva is expected to bring back golden memories for Telugu cinema lovers.
