5 years of Kaithi : Lokesh Kanagaraj calls action thriller the heart of LCU

5 years of Kaithi : Indian filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj recently celebrated the 5th anniversary of Kaithi, the first film from LCU that cemented his place in Indian cinema . He calls action thriller as the heart of LCU- Lokesh Cinematic Universe.

To mark 5 years of Kaithi ,Lokesh Kanagaraj took to his official Twitter account, expressed gratitude to actor Karthi and producer S.R. Prabhu, and reflected on the film as Standard LCU debut and shared an unseen behind-the-scenes photo from the set. e

Today, October 25, 2024 marks 5 years since Kaithi released, which was the LCU debut film. Director Lokesh recently celebrated the 5th anniversary of Kaithi .

Lokesh Kanagaraj penned a note on his twitter account, stating ,It all started from here! Grateful to @Karthi_Offl, sir, @prabhu_sr sir and the ‘universe’ for making this happen Dilli will return soon #5 Years Of Kaithi,” teasing the release of much awaited sequel Kaithi 2.

Kaithi’s 5-year milestone not only highlights Lokesh’s journey but also marks the beginning of his skillfully crafted cinematic universe , which is now the most celebrated film franchise in the country . The Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) has expanded with features films like Vikram , Leo , upcoming films like Kaithi 2 , Rolex standalone film, Vikram 2 and Leo 2. Recently Lokesh revealed that LCU will have 10 standalone films and one multistarrer featuring all lead heroes from the film.

In the Lokesh cinematic universe, the events in Kaithi unfold in the year 2019, followed by the events in Vikram, which transpire three months after the events in Kaithi. Subsequently, the events in Leo occur two years later in 2021. The flashback storylines in Vikram and Leo depict events from 1991 and 1999 respectively.

Lokesh also announced the, announced a 10 minute short film titled Pillaiyar Suzhi, this movie unveils the Lokesh Cinematic universe’s beginning. Arjun Das, Narain, Kalidas Jayaram, and a few other actors will be part of this short is expected to release before Kaithi 2 .
